Drawing from live models is one of the best ways to understand the human form, but an artist doesn't always have the luxury to paint that model in their desired setting, whether it be in the Roman Colosseum or the Moon. In this class, we will combine the fun of live figure drawing and the challenge of incorporating props and other references to create exciting compositions for future masterpieces.

Bookmaking with Loretta
June 27th-July 1st(2pm - 4pm)
Learn traditional and innovative techniques for making paper and Bookmaking. Create a one-of-a-kind sketchbook using Japanese stab-binding methods. Also, we will make a traditional cotex, or multi-section, bound book to be used as a gorgeous photo album or journal!

Acrylics with Judi and Holly

Acrylic paint is such an exciting and versatile medium and has been adopted by many modern painters. It can be used in glazes like watercolor or used thickly like oils and can be applied to a variety of surfaces. In this camp we will experiment with three different techniques while focusing on a subject matter chosen by the student. Students will also learn how to stretch their own canvas! |

Character Design with Holly
July 25th - 29th (2pm - 4pm)
This camp will begin by focusing on the proportions of the face and body so that students can create characters of all types. Students will learn the tricks of the trade in order to establish emotional expressions and personalities for each character they develop. Students will also tackle the challenging skill of drawing their characters in multiple views. By the end of the week, students will complete an illustration with their characters.

Portraits with Kathleen
August 1st - 7th (2pm - 4pm)
This beginning class will study the structure and proportions of the human face. Working from photos, each student will capture likeness using two methods and a variety of media!

Colored Pencil and Ink with Holly
August 8th- 12th (2pm - 4pm)
Dry and wet mediums combined! The intense, bright and freedom of liquid inks compliment the bold and dramatic colored pencils. Students will begin by experimenting with the different techniques inks can offer, and then they will learn the professional way

Sculpture with Holly
August 15th - 19th (2pm - 4pm)
In this camp, students will learn how to carve like the masters! We will begin the week learning how to carve a sculpture from a solid form. Next students will experiment with carving a mold into clay to create a plaster cast that will then be painted. And finally carve in relief on linoleum that will be used for printing. |
