Joy Weinstein

I have a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma in Education.  I taught for Jr. High for 12 years in public and private schools in Okla. City, Tulsa & Houston. I am an “Okie” but have lived in Texas a very long time. This is year #16 at J’s where introduction to art, discovery, exploration and fun are the best ways to describe what I try to accomplish in my classes.  I love the little ones, but also find the adult class challenging, inspiring and exciting.

Herb and I have been married for 31 years, have 5 grown children, Dana (and Mendi + 5), Deborah (and Keith +2) & Taff (and April +1), Rebekka (and Ross), Aaron (and Holly) all married and the 3 oldest have multiplied as we have 8 grandchildren living in Houston and London England.  Rebekka and her husband Ross live in Los Angeles and Aaron and Holly are here in Dallas.  Holly also teaches at J’s.

Why have I taught here for so long?  Where else can you dress in grubby jeans, a t shirt covered with paint, have a load of fun, get messy and laugh about it other than working at this art studio.  It is with wonder that I observe children create and I love seeing the “light go on” when a child makes a discovery for themselves – it is a wonderful and fulfilling experience.
